GENERATION ROCK
Our musicians

Lady Deee (Deanna Wicks) - Vocals
One half of Generation Rock’s powerhouse ladies, Lady Deee has been singing professionally for nearly a decade—but according to her mum, it started in the crib, and she’d cry if anyone dared interrupt. A graduate of the Academy of Contemporary Music, she now passes on the passion as both a singing teacher and band coach. She’s performed with a Chic/Nile Rodgers tribute act, provided backing vocals for a David Bowie tribute, and sung at more function gigs than she can count. When she’s not rocking with Generation Rock, she fronts Aquarius—a band with serious Woodstock energy and a love for all things retro. Raised on a blend of pop, funk and rock (courtesy of her mum’s record collection), Lady Dee brings powerhouse vocals with a playful twist, inspired by her love of Jack Black’s vocal antics.

Purple Haze (Hazelle Woodhurst-White) - Vocals
Our very own blonde bombshell that is Purple Haze, Hazelle was formerly the vocal powerhouse behind the UK rock band Anemo who had 2 albums and 3 singles in the 00s. Growing up in a musical household filled with great rock music, she was destined for the stage. And when not singing on it, Hazelle is also an actor with credits in film and TV, and more recently on the theatre stage working with theatre groups across Sussex. Her favourite bands are P!nk and Wolf Alice.

Jay Wadey - Vocals & Drums
Jay has been thumping the drums since he was 12 and he has sort of got the hang of it now! He was one of the founding members of the indie band Torture Garden, before joining Kingsley and the brit pop influenced outfit Mumbo Jumbo. When he left, he formed Rubber Soul and recorded two albums in Kingsley’s studio which brought the pair back together. Since then they have worked together on many other musical projects. These days, Jay is busier than ever playing all over the country with The Vox Beatles and when there is time, he still loves to play with No Mustang with Kingsley and Matt!

Joe Boult - Vocals & lead guitar
The “Lightning Boult” himself, 30 years too late for how much eyeliner he wears, Joe cut his teeth with a thousand functions and various tributes ranging from Robbie Williams, to Duran Duran and Level 42, plays guitar for the UK’s leading Dire Straits tribute band DS:UK and spends his days in a home studio recording music. When not strutting his guitar for Generation Rock, he repairs guitars at his own business Elite String Works.

Kingsley Sage - Keys
Kingsley is a classically trained piano player and runs a music publishing and licensing company in Sussex. Formerly the keys player for the rock band Anemo who had two albums in the 00s, Kingsley plays keys for the UK’s leading Dire Straits tribute band DS:UK and produces music for use in radio and television. He is rumoured to be powered entirely by tea. His favourite keyboard players are Jon Lord from Deep Purple and Billy Currie from Ultravox.

Matt Francis - Bass
Matt learned to play the bass after his little brother started playing drums in a band. Determined not to be upstaged by his younger brother, he listened to Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, learning and recreating all his bass lines to teach himself.
With 25 years of experience, Matt has provided bass lines for various solo musician projects, a highlight being involved on a track that was eventually used as the soundtrack to a children's online learning platform. Matt is also currently part of the Sussex based function band No Mustang with Kingsley and Jay.
Outside of playing bass, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and dog and plays pool in his local pool league, as well as probably too many other teams. He recently won the Mid Sussex singles title and represents Sussex at County level.
